When To Post On Social in 2021 - The Numbers Are In!

One of the fundamentals of reaching your customers on Social Media is knowing when they will be online. Unfortunately, COVID-19 threw us a curveball with lockdown and work-from-home requirements, totally changing Social Media activity. So, the big question is…When Do I Post?

GreenKat has done its homework, studying activity and comparing it to the findings of other industry specialists. This is what we’ve been seeing…

Ready to take notes?

Facebook Engagement:

On Facebook we have seen an increase in engagement starting at 10 am and peaking at 11 am, Monday through Friday. If you share posts on the weekend, Saturday between Noon and 1 pm is still our favorite hot-spot, but we do see a spike at 11 am as well.

Others in the Social Media industry confirm these times, and a few break it down even further stating that Monday, Wednesday and Friday are the optimum days of the week.

Instagram Followers:

Instagram engagement is similar to Facebook, with 11 am seeing a significant peak, and again at 2 pm, Monday through Friday, with Tuesday showing a slightly higher engagement rate. However, it seems that posting any time between 11 am and 2 pm provides good results (including Saturdays). Pay attention to your individual target audience to fine-tune this.

When to Tweet

Twitter has always had its best engagement in the mornings, specifically 9 am, and this hasn’t changed much. However, the best day to post is almost exclusively on Friday. If you tweet for your business, be sure to take advantage of Friday morning between 7:30 and 9:30 am. This doesn’t mean that the rest of the week is a bust, because engagement seems to be higher overall…but Fridays are the best bang for your buck.

LinkedIn

Are you using LinkedIn? If you’re a B2B you probably should be thinking about it. The platform has really come a long way…if Twitter and Facebook had a baby, you would have LinkedIn wearing a business suit. Top engagement on this platform happens later in the week, with Wednesday seeing the best performance starting at 1 pm and peaking at 3 pm. Thursday is best at 9 am, and Friday shows an uptick at noon.

Remember, these times are only an averaged guide. You may see differences in engagement within your niche due to any number of factors including region of service, demographics, seasonality and more. Only you can determine what is best for your business. And, as always, if you are feeling overwhelmed or would like help making a social media plan, you can contact us here at GreenKat Marketing.
